Inspired to write today thanks to the legendary Dee Snider... \m/ ... The NFL Super Bowl Halftime show... we discussed this on previous episodes... but ya... comes up every year doesn't it??
I am actually a huge sports fan, in particular... the Football variety... I am actually over this topic. There is something that I have figured out in our travels with the HMOA6PACK Podcast... and Metal as awesome as it is in a niche genre... especially the heavy variety.
The super bowl halftime show for those of you that are un aware is metal biased, they are required and maybe need to attract an audience greater than we produce. We shall someday officially take over the world but for now... our mosh pits and shenanigans will have to seek residency elsewhere. Think of a pie chart of what kind of music the world listens to , I'd be willing to bet our sliver is much smaller than Brenda's over there... damn Brenda goin for seconds all the time...
But... if it helps anyones feels... the NFL couldn't even get a Super Bowl in Atlanta right... the hip hop capital of the world almost kinda sorta and only 20 seconds of some as far as I'm concerned no name whoever rap a few chords... (do rappers have chords?? Sorry... ignorance is bliss)
We are undoubtably the best source for killer amperage and pump up volume.. that's why "Welcome To The Jungle", "Enter Sandman" and other anthemic rhythms are used in between plays... even Iron Maiden, Drowning Pool, FFDP, and others can be heard around the stadium at times... but when it comes to an average 98.2 million viewers for a single game and event.. Not gonna happen... put out a pretty face and pre record their tunes to avoid another incident of forgetting the National Anthem lyrics.. and you have a party.
I think sometimes... subject matter alone may prevent an epic Metal Performance under the eyes of the SB halftime show... another reason why I don't lose sleep that my own proclaimed binky "August Burns Red" probably won't feature a pigskin performance... however... give me "White Washed" on the way out of a locker room and I too could probably lead the league in sacks for a season..
If there was a band that probably should have been there... ESPECIALLY since they have reunited after so many years.. "Guns n Roses" ... Welcome To The Jungle is a stadium in any locker room all the way down to Pee Wee... excite the old school heavy hitters and give em the Axl... football ratings will survive the fumble.
Oh well.. Until then.. go Pats! \m/ Drink Beer and Stay Metal
